Memory Monday - Day 6

On day 6 I was able to hold Owen, from inside the isolette, for the first time. The nurses had to change his bedding and asked if I wanted to hold him up. It was so scary and wonderful all at the same time. He was so tiny and fragile.



Heavy Heart

I write with a heavy heart today. A couple days ago I received some not-so-good news. Unfortunately, it isn't public knowledge and I was asked not to share the information. I am so worried but I cannot let my family know I am. I have to be strong. This isn't about Owen but our family is hurting right now. All I can do now is ask for prayers. I am sorry I can't be more specific. It is all I can think about right now and I can't go any longer without asking for everyone to pray for our family. I promise to update when I can. For now, just keep us in your prayers and pray for good news in the coming months.

Owen's New Favorite Toy

Owen is sooo smart!

Owen got this toy for his birthday from his NICU nurse, Janie! I was so excited because he didn't have many toys to learn shapes. Well, he picked up this toy like he had seen it everyday. First, he picked up the circle one and put it right in the circle hole. I thought, wow! but didn't really think he could do the others - boy was I wrong!

He picked up the other 4 and did the same - put them right in the correct holes!

There are two of each shape. Now he picks up both circle ones and puts them in, then both triangles and puts them in, then both squares and so on.

We sure have one smart 2 year old!

Memory Monday - First Feeding

Owen's first feeding was September 2nd, 2009 - a little bit of breastmilk

Right after lunch Daddy came home! He got home early! Lately he has been working 6:30-3 and 5-9. We only get to see him from 3:30-4:30. He got home at 2 today! We get to have a little over 2 hours with him! The boys were so excited!!

So, some of you might not know, but I am a person that likes to be organized. I love to find new ways to organize. I like consistancy, I like plans, I like routine. Since having Owen I have both had to use my need to organize and try to resist the compulsion hehe.

I have to be organized because of all the different tests, visits, doctor appointments . . . the list could really go on forever. I have to organize all the bills, paperwork, appointment reminders, phone calls . . . you get the idea

However, I also have to resist the compulsion because there is no consistancy, plan, or routine with Owen. He is contantly changing the plan, routine, and consistancy.

Needless to say, I have come to appreciate my compulsion and hate it at the same time. It both relieves my stress and creates it all at the same time hehe

I know what you're thinking - what does this have to do with the title, pinterest, right?

Well, a friend recently got me hooked on pinterest. If you haven't begun pinning, you must. It is great, although you can get addicted so beware! On pinterest you can search for different subjects. I often find myself tying "organize" and click that little search button. You will find many many blogs that will give you advice on how to organize just about anything in your life.

I found a pin that shows you how to organize cards. This is another thing about me - I love cards! I keep almost every card I get. I eventually get rid of them but it is really hard for me to part with them. I decided to try this out with the cards that the kids got for their Thing 1 and Thing 2 birthday. I will now do this for all cards we get for the kids' birthdays! I love it!

You simply line all the cards up, punch two holes near the bottom (due to the fact that some cards are not as long as others), then just thread some ribbon through the holes and tie with a bow :)

I know it could get a little bulky over the years but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, it's a great way to display special birthday cards :)

Memory Monday - Tiny Footprints

Owen has Daddy's feet! From the moment I saw them, I was in love with Owen's feet. They are still cute today. Believe it or not, at some points during the long NICU stay, his feet were the only parts of him I recognized.
