Getting Crafty

Before Christmas we had a few projects for the boys.

1. We made salt dough ornaments. The kids love to paint so and make cookies so I thought we would make presents for Owen's nurses and doctors. The boys did them all by themselves!

2. Gingerbread houses!

We haven't done these before but they always look like so much fun. I decided I wanted to try. Since I had never done one, I wasn't sure what to buy. So, I bought the kits they sell in the store. It worked out ok but I didn't know the house is pre-made. I think next year I will just buy the supplies and try to make our own!

Decorating the Tree

The kids loved decorating the tree! They did it all on their own (at least the places on the tree they could reach). The front, bottom part of our tree is filled with ornaments! All throughout this month they have been daily re-arranging the tree.

Christmas Ornaments

Every year our family goes to the local craft fair that goes on the weekend after thanksgiving. I love it! There they have a booth where you can pick out an ornament to personalize. Here is our ornament for this year . . .
Since we also went to Disneyland this year, we bought a christmas ornament while we were there. It lights up and everything!

4 Years

Four years ago, on December 6,2009, Heath and I were married. It was Owens due date and he was still in the hospital. We decided to marry in the children's hospital chapel. It was such a special day.
This year we got to spend the night with our two boys. We enjoyed a dinner out, just the four of us. We went and got red cups at Starbucks. I just love that we get to enjoy the Christmas season on our anniversary! Then we watched mickeys twice upon a Christmas and ate popcorn. It was a nice, relaxing night together.

Happy Anniversary my love, looking forward to many more!

Snow Day!

We had our first snow yesterday and had a great time playing with our boys!
They loved throwing snowballs over and over again. Isaiah just kept laughing and laughing; it was adorable!
I'm just going to share a bunch of pictures because I think my kids are soooo cute in the snow!
Enjoy

The last time it snowed at our house, we were frantic! Owen was sick, our 4-wheel drive car was in the shop, and I was driving two little boys (one sick) back and forth from the pediatricians office to the lab to the ER and back to the pediatricians office. I was in a car with no heater and it was a stick shift. It was scary and busy and I was not having a good time. I was worried about my baby boy. But this snow, this snow was a blessing. It was a time for our family to slow down and take it all in. Allow ourselves to enjoy the day, and enjoy our kids being kids. We are blessed

North Pole Breakfast 2013

We decided that we would start a new tradition the Saturday after thanksgiving. Our Elf on the Shelf would introduce himself by bringing the boys a North Pole style breakfast!
I have gone back and forth with elf on the shelf and decided that it would be fun. I like the idea of him bringing lots of fun Christmas activities for my boys to do. I'm excited to see how they like it. Since Owen was hospitalized the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we had to wait until we got home. Elf on the Shelf was postponed for a week but it actually turned out great. We got snow that Saturday morning so it was like he brought the North Pole weather with him!
Although, it would have been nice if we didn't lose power. We had no heat and no lights lol.

Here was the table the night before, all ready for the boys in the morning.
 Elf, front and center
 North Pole snow (powdered) donuts
The boys had snowman plates and Santa cups. Elf also brought them a present in a "gingerbread" house

 Marshmallows for hot chocolate

In the morning, the boys woke up early because it was so cold in their room. The electricity went out in the middle of the night. Because the electricity went out, we weren't able to make hot chocolate so we made chocolate milk instead.
The boys were so excited to see everything set up on the table.
Isaiah was very excited about his christmas plate!
But Owen was most excited about all the snow outside!

Our elf sure knows Owen - cheerios are a must every morning!
 Yum!
Owen wasn't too into eating all the sweets . . . but he liked playing with them!
